MPSC (ENGINEERING SERVICES)

WHAT IS MPSC?

Maharashtra engineering (Civil) Service Examination is conducted by Maharashtra Public Service Commission, (MPSC) in order to select Class I and Class II officers in following engineering departments of Government of Maharashtra.

  • Water Resources Department (WRD)
  • Public Works Department (PWD)
  • Water Supply & Sanitation Department (WSSD)
    Maharashtra Jeevan Pradhikaran

Hierarchy of posts in PWD/WRD Departments

  • SECRETARY

  • EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OR DIRECTOR GENERAL

  • CHIEF ENGINEER

  • SUPERINTENDING ENGINEER

  • EXECUTIVE ENGINEER

  • DEPUTY ENGINEER

    1) Assistant Executive Engineer
    2) Assistant Engineer Grade-1
    3) Sub-Divisional Engineer
    4) Sub-Divisional Officer

  • ASSISTANT ENGINEER GRADE II

  • SECTIONAL ENGINEER

  • JUNIOR ENGINEER

NATIONALITY & EDUCATION

  • Must be a citizen of India
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of Marathi

AGE LIMIT

Must have attained the age of 18 years and must not have attained the age of 33 years on the 1st January, of the exam year.

AGE RELAXATION

  • Up to a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a SC or a ST.
  • Up to a maximum of 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to OBC category.
MPSC has announced a 3 Stage exam pattern from 2017 which is as below :
STAGE I – PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION
STAGE I OBJECTIVE PAPER MARKS & DURATION
PAPER  I (Common to all) MARATHI MARKS : 100 DURATION : 90 MINUTES
ENGLISH
GENERAL STUDIES
TECHNICAL SUBJECTS
STAGE I SUB-TOTAL 100 MARKS
STAGE II : MAINS EXAMINATION
Only those candidates qualifying at this stage (i.e. Stage I + Stage II) will be permitted to appear for Stage III Examination.
STAGE II OBJECTIVE TYPE PAPERS MARKS & DURATION
PAPER I ENGINEERING  DISCIPLINE  SPECIFIC PAPER I MARKS : 200
DURATION : 2 HOURS
PAPER II ENGINEERING DISCIPLINE  SPECIFIC PAPER II MARKS : 200
DURATION : 2 HOURS
STAGE II SUB – TOTAL 400 MARKS
STAGE III : PERSONALITY TEST OR INTERVIEW
Only those Candidates qualifying at this Stage ( i.e Stage II + Stage III) to be included in the Final Merit List of Engineering Services Exam (ESE).

STAGE III PERSONALITY TEST OR INTERVIEW MARKS : 50
  • STAGE I – PRELIMS : FIRST WEEK OF JULY
  • STAGE II – MAINS: LAST WEEK OF NOV OR FIRST WEEK OF DEC
  • STAGE III – PERSONALITY TEST:  MAY & JUNE
